Thank you for your interest in this experiment!
Please note, if you completed any of the recent simulator studies under the same name (in our lab, or in a bike simulator), we can not include you in this experiment. These previous studies were run during Winter and Spring quarters earlier this year, and another is being run concurrently with this one.
To volunteer, please read the information below and make an appointment via the calendar widget:
- Note:
- The calendar service asks for a name and e-mail. We will only use these to contact you regarding the research appointment and confirm you are the correct participant once you arrive. It will not be associated with your data, and you are free to use a pseudonym.

When coming to your appointment:
- If you have a tendency toward motion sickness, please be aware that virtual reality might trigger this. You will be able to take breaks or leave the study at any time.
- Please be on time. Because of the possibility of technical difficulties occurring with the VR system, we cannot start running a participant late.
- You will be asked to move with position trackers attached to your body (On your wrists, ankles, and waist), so pleaseĀ come with a base layer that is close-fitting to make the process of attaching them easier.
- As we are collecting eye tracking data, glasses are not permitted in this experiment.
- The experiment will be held in Moreland Hall, Room 140 (see below for details on how to find it)
Study Details
- This study will involve wearing a virtual reality head-mounted display (HMD; the Vive Pro), and a variety of positional trackers (Vive Trackers).
- This study involves a relatively high amount of self-generated movement in the virtual environment.
- There will beĀ $20 in cash given as compensation. To receive this, you must complete the study in its entirety. You are, however, free to leave at any point.
- The study will run for an estimated 1hr.
Moreland 140, the CARVE lab space, is in the basement floor of Moreland.
